Quite often, you can see the news that in a particular region of the world, builders stumbled upon human remains or archaeological finds, working at a construction site. In this case, usually the forensic experts (if human remains) or archaeologists (valuable finds, the remains of ancient animals, etc. p.). Forensic experts are caused because they can determine the age of the remains, and further redirect the case to the police or archaeologists.
If you have found bones or archaeological artifacts during excavation at a construction site, then a certain plan of action is for you.
1. Stop work. Many documents and rules regulate such events and require builders of immediate termination of work. If human remains or archaeological finds are detected, the contractor must immediately stop the construction, even if it contradicts business contracts, construction contracts, labor contracts, etc. p.
2. If you do not understand what you see, you need to call other people, for example, the owner of the construction, an architect or engineer, the local police. Check the laws of your region in order to understand exactly who you must notify in the future and which state body is responsible for the proceedings related to the find.
3. Next, you should evaluate the options that depend on your jurisdiction. It may require reburial of the remains in line with local law, for example, if you have excavated the cemetery.
4. The owner of the site must take measures before the work on the site is continued. The contractor has the right to extra time and money for the actions necessary to solve the problem, as well as the elimination of the consequences of the find. In other words, if the contract is not spelled out in the contract, builders have the right to demand additional funds and expand the working hours, if the bones discovered at the facility require additional work, simple equipment or personnel.
After the discovery of bones at the construction site, forensic experts will conduct an investigation to determine whether the crime took place, or whether the find is archaeological. Archaeologists will further determine the value of the find, when it comes to their research field. Upon completion of research or investigation, contractors will be able to continue their work.
Please note that you have no right to hide the fact that the remains have been found on the construction site. You also cannot in any way harm the find, move it without the knowledge of the organs, etc. p.
