International competitions in … setting up a fence!

June 29, 2018

It turns out that every two years among professionals, the world championship has been held on who will better install the fence. Previous competitions were held in Bavaria in the city of Shenbrunn at a cattle -breeding fair. It was already the 11th championship, and its holding became the culmination of the fair, since these competitions are really spectacular. Not just the cattle breeders from different parts of the world gather on them.

The next championship will be held in Germany in August. Such competitions are more than just a professional installation of a fence. Competitions are aimed at which of the participants will build an electric fence better and faster. With such fences in some countries, cattle are fenced out in pastures. Those who are engaged in breeding small and large cattle believe that such fences are the best way to protect the herd from the attacks of other people. In addition, faced with such a harsh fence, not a single animal will no longer want to get out of its limits. Electric fence is more reliable than any shepherd. He monitors animals around the clock and carefully, he does not need to be released on sick leave and, most importantly, pay salaries.

The first to conduct the New Zealand fence installation championship. It was now in 1969. For such a country, where, as we know from advertising and not only, sheep and cows are literally the basis of the whole economy. That is why electric fences in this country are an integral part of its daily life. Almost all agricultural enterprises are equipped with such fences here. Such competitions are held annually on the island in June during the closure of the feed fair for livestock. Paul van Birs was recognized as the best fence. He is a multiple winner of national, as well as world championship. Several times the winner’s medal was received by Swede Sven Blumrich.

Today, among the participants of the competition, the winners of national competitions in countries such as Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Great Britain, Switzerland and Germany. France among them is a newcomer and will take part in the championship for the fourth time, and the qualifying tour took place last year, and Simon Vivien won it in it. By the way, before him the crown of the winner was with a woman – the only female participant.

Each participant must make a fence, for example, a wooden fence consisting of a gate, 18 logs 2 meters long and three wire lines connected to the power supply. A low frequency current passes through these lines. The total length of the fence is 70 meters, and the competitions themselves are held in the meadow. Jury – International Commission. In controversial, the situation, when two participants claim to be a crown at once, preference is given to the one who spent less time.

This world championship is a charge of good mood, adventure and the opportunity to get acquainted with colleagues in fence. And of course this is a meeting place for breeders.

After the awarding ceremony of the best of the best is completed, the fabricates answer the questions that everyone asked them.
